The New York Shockers Women’s Premier Soccer (WPSL) Team is excited to announce the appointment
of PJ Motsiff as Sporting Director. In this role, PJ will oversee all aspects of player care, including
coaching support, player recruitment and development, and sports performance. With a wealth of
experience and a deep commitment to the growth of the game, PJ is poised to make a
significant impact in this new position.
A Visionary Leader in Soccer Development
PJ's career has been defined by his commitment to the growth and development of women's soccer,
particularly at the grassroots and elite levels. He founded and owned the Adirondack Lynx, the first
semi-professional women’s soccer team in the Albany area, and led the team to immediate success,
including being a Divisional Champion and Eastern Conference Finalist in 2006.
A key architect in the expansion of soccer opportunities in the Northeast, PJ was instrumental in the startup of soccer programming and team recruitment for the Adirondack Sports Complex, a 98,000 sq. ft. multi-sport facility, and the creation of a 6,000 sq. ft. turf training facility in the Southern Adirondack Mountains. He also partnered with Kick It 3v3, revolutionizing small-sided soccer in the region, and transformed the Lake George Forum into a premier futsal facility, enhancing player development opportunities.
PJ’s impact extends beyond his own ventures. He founded the Northeastern Clubs Development Association (NECDA), a collaborative initiative aimed at improving player and coach development, and played a pivotal role as the first Director of Soccer for the Golden Goal Sports Park, a $12M residential soccer facility in upstate New York.
Championing Women’s Soccer
A passionate advocate for women’s sports, PJ’s leadership within the Adirondack Lynx elevated the region’s women’s soccer scene. He brought the Lynx WPSL team into the Albany Alleycats organization in 2011, further solidifying his commitment to the growth of women's soccer in the region. His vision has empowered countless female soccer players to reach new heights in their soccer journeys.
Community and Coaching Excellence
PJ’s dedication to youth development is also evident in his work with the South Glens Falls youth soccer program, where he revitalized the initiative, rebranding it as Bulldogs FC and coordinating a network of volunteers to serve hundreds of local children. His efforts to create a vibrant, engaging environment have left a lasting impact on the community.
As a coach, PJ has spent over 20 years working at various levels, including high school, collegiate, and semi-professional soccer. He has mentored numerous players, many of whom have gone on to play with top collegiate programs, the Olympics, World Cup and with the US Youth National Teams.
Looking Ahead
With his deep expertise, unwavering passion for the game, and commitment to the growth of women’s soccer, PJ is poised to lead the New York Shockers WPSL team to new heights in both player development and team success.
